With just 11 professional fights under his belt, Alex Pereira (9-2) has made the most of his opportunities, winning titles in 2 separate weight classes. In his most recent bout at UFC 295, he viciously knocked out Jiri Prochazka in the second round to win the vacant light heavyweight title. He will now attempt to defend his UFC title for the first time when he faces former champion Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 this coming weekend. Before ending Israel Adesanya’s career by knockout to win the light heavyweight title, Alex Pereira entered the UFC with a bang. But Adesanya was able to even the score and win via knockout in their rematch. That didn’t deter Pereira, who went up to light heavyweight and defeated Jan Blachowicz in a close decision. This earned him a rematch with Jiri Prochazka, the former light heavyweight champion.
Jamahal Hill Analysis: He only has one loss
In UFC 283, Jamahal Hill (12-1) defeated mentor and close friend of Alex Pereira, Glover Teixeira, to win the vacant light heavyweight title. But Hill has been out of action since rupturing his Achilles tendon, necessitating surgery. He is now making his comeback just 9 months after the injury, hoping to win back the title against champion Alex Pereira at UFC 300. Jamahal Hill defeated Glover Texeira at UFC 283 to take the vacant light heavyweight title. Regretfully, Hill suffered an Achilles tendon tear shortly afterward while participating in a basketball match with other UFC fighters. After Jiri Prochazka was defeated, Alex Pereira was able to win the championship back from him.
