Mallorca Analysis: They haven’t won in 5 consecutive games
It appears that Mexican coach Javier Aguirre will once more guarantee Real Mallorca’s La Liga standing for one additional year. After escaping loss against the Andalusians the previous weekend, the Balearic Islanders head into the 34th matchday of the 2023–24 campaign with a six-point advantage over Cadiz in the bottom three and the relegation positions. In that match against Cadiz, Mallorca took the lead through Vedat Muriqi in the 12th minute, but Omar Mascarell’s own goal in the second half tied the score. Since losing to Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey final on penalties, Mallorca has not impressed. They have now won all five of their previous games in all competitions.
Atletico Analysis: Only lost 4 league games
Diego Simeone and Los Rojiblancos have had a lackluster season, and Atletico Madrid has just about managed to end the campaign in a respectable place. With a six-point lead over Athletic Club going into the final five games of the season, they are targeting a top 4 finish and UEFA Champions League qualification. After defeating Athletic 3-1 in the Metropolitano last weekend, thanks to goals from Rodrigo De Paul and Angel Correa and an own goal from Unai Simon to seal the victory, the visitors enter this match with confidence. In their past four La Liga games, Atletico has now secured three wins. Due to suspension, Atletico Madrid will be without star player Antoine Griezmann this weekend. Gabriel will also be absent due to injury, and Memphis Depay is questionable.
